Student Council presents Mid-Afternoon at the Movies on  Thursday, December 17th ! Student Council is proud to collaborate with three BHS students on their Community Action Service (CAS) project for this month's Mid-Afternoon at the Movies event! These students are raising money for an organization called Pencils of Promise whose mission it is to build schools where there are none. A contribution of $2 is being requested and may be included with money for pizza and drinks, if ordering. Together, we invite you to participate in December’s Mid-Afternoon at the Movies when we will be showing the movie “INSIDE OUT.” This event will be held in the McKelvie Cafeteria from 3:30 - 5:30 , and pizza and drinks will be available for those who order ahead of time.  Click HERE to view the flyer with complete information and to print out a permission slip/order form. Toys for Tots… also known at McKelvie this year as Cash for Christmas! The Community Action Team (CAT) is pleased to announce that we will participate in the Toys for Tots drive once again this year.  In an effort to  '​ Keep It Simple’ ​,​  we are encouraging students who wish to participate in this drive to bring in a small cash contribution for toys.  CAT will be using this money to purchase toys on behalf of the McKelvie student body.  We will be collecting contributions until  12/1 1​ /2015 . If your student/family would prefer to donate a toy, students are welcome to bring in a new, unwrapped toy.  Toys for Tots donation bins will be located at the front of the school.

McKelvie Intermediate School will be hosting its annual spelling bee on Tuesday, December 15th, at 9:30am in the cafeteria.  All families are welcome to attend.

There is a free workshop for parents entitled "Cyberbullying, Sexting, & Unwise Social Networking: The Role of Parents" being offered at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester on Monday, November 30th, from 6:30-8:30pm.   The speaker is Sameer Hinduja, Co-Director of the Cyberbullying Research Center and Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University. The Yearbook Club is holding its annual cover design contest for the front and back covers of the 2015/16 yearbook!   All submissions will be published in the yearbook; however, one sixth and one fifth grade design will be selected for the front and back covers.   Students and faculty will vote for their two favorite designs and each winner will receive a free yearbook and their artwork will appear on the front and back covers.  Click HERE for contest details.

Finish your holiday shopping early this year by purchasing gift cards through the Bedford PTG to provide support for ALL the Bedford schools with no additional cost to you! How does it work? For every gift card you buy, a percentage of the value of the card is donated to ALL our schools while 100% of the value of the card that you purchased is available for you to spend! Want to eat great and support your child's school?  Make dinner a selfless act by joining us at  Chipotle  for a fundraiser to support McKelvie Intermediate School. Come in to the Chipotle at 99 S River Rd in Bedford on   Wednesday , October  7th,   between   5:00pm and 8:00pm . Bring in this flyer , show it  on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the  cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated  to McKelvie Intermediate School in Bedford.  We thank you for support ing​   our Move-A-Thon fundraising efforts!

McKelvie Intermediate School has a site license for currently-enrolled students to access a typing program called “Type to Learn 4 Agents of Information”.  Because it is a web-based program, students are also able to legally download and run it from home. This will allow your student to practice his/her typing skills from the comforts of home without any cost to you! Click HERE for instructions on downloading and accessing this program. If you are unable to get the Type to Learn program to work on your home computer, another alternative would be for you to Google "Free typing programs for education". There are several great options, such as Dance Mat Typing , Typing Club , Typing Web , etc.

McKelvie students are moving to raise money for our school!!  The 9th annual McKelvie Move-A-Thon will be held on Thursday, October 22nd (rain date October 23rd).  Move-A-Thon event sign-ups will be available Friday, September 18th, beginning at 7pm .  Please complete the sign-up process by September 30, 2015.  All students must participate in one activity on the day of the Move-A-Thon . All of the Move-A-Thon resources are located under the Move-A-Thon tab on the McKelvie website.

Calling all 6th Graders! Do you want to be a part of Move-A-Thon history?  Sixth-grade students are encouraged to design the annual Move-A-Thon shirt.  Directions and the design submission form are located under the Move-A-Thon tab or via the links below.  Your design could be on this year’s shirt! McKelvie Clubs are now open for registration. To register, hover over the Clubs tab and select a club from the list. Scroll down to "Click HERE for online registration" and click on the link to the online form.  Be sure to click "Submit" on your form. NOTE:  If the club advisor maintains a separate club website, the link to register will be on that club's website. Each club has its own online registration form and maximum number of participants. You will be notified by the club advisor as to the status of your registration.

Please note that McKelvie's school picture day has been changed from 9/23 to 9/24.

Q1 Intramurals - September 14 – October 30, 2015 Sign ups for first quarter intramurals will be held from Friday, September 4th, at 4 PM - Sunday, September 13th, at 3 PM.   You will be able to sign up on the McKelvie website under the intramural tab  or via the link below.
