We recently learned that both the Middle School and the High School have events tonight , Dec 16th.  Due to the start times of their events and McKelvie's Winter Concert, we have decided to  change the venue  of our Winter  Concert .   Tonight's   concert  will now be held in the  McKelvie Gym . Our plan is to keep the Spring  Concert  at the Theater. Our apologies for the inconvenience. McKelvie Winter  Concert McKelvie’s Winter  Concert  is on  Friday, December 16th  at McKelvie. String Club at  6:30pm , Chorus follows and Band begins at  7:30pm .  There will be intermission with concessions.  We hope to see you there!

McKelvie's Annual school-wide Spelling Bee  will be held on  Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 9:30  in the cafeteria. Family members are welcome to attend.

Calling all artists!! The yearbook cover contest deadline has been extended to Friday, December 9th. Please click HERE for details about the contest.  One sixth grade and one fifth grade entry will be selected and the winners will receive a FREE yearbook.

Due to the forecast for rain on Thursday and Friday, the McKelvie Move-A-Thon has been changed to Wednesday, October 26th. Remember to get those pledges in! Students can begin bringing in their equipment (yes, it can go on the bus). Please join us for “Continue the Conversation” on Tuesday, October 25th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at McKelvie.  Our special guest speaker is Diane Vaccarello, owner and therapist at Bedford Family Therapy .  Diane will be focusing on how to speak with children about drugs and alcohol as well as its impact on the preadolescent brain.  Mrs. Vaccarello will be joined by Sara Cassin, Health Educator and McKelvie School Counselors, Priscilla McGinty and Jodi Parsons.  Target audience: Parents of children in grades 4-6.

Did you know that every school in the district has an Ecosmith Recycle Bin in the parking lot?  This is a great way to donate/recycle old clothes, while helping raise funds for our teams who advance to Global Finals each year.  You can put any kind of fabrics in these bins, towels and stuffed animals too.  Ripped shirts and pants with holes are fine, as well as well worn shoes.  Bedford DI greatly appreciates your continued participation in this program.

Bring your cars over to McKelvie Intermediate School for a cleaning, grab a tasty treat for yourself and support two great Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk teams in their efforts to battle cancer. McKelvie 16/17 club descriptions will be posted on Friday, September 2nd by 3pm; however, registrations will not begin until Tuesday, September 6th, at 8pm .  This will afford families the time to review the club descriptions, as well as equitable access to registrations. NOTE: Because Chorus does not have a size limit, that club is currently available for registrations.  You will be redirected to Mrs. Coughlin's site and can click the registration link.

McKelvie clubs and intramurals will not be set for the 2016-17 school year until after school starts.  There will be an announcement on the McKelvie home page when the everything is finalized. Enjoy the Summer!

For those families who did not purchase the PTG Supply Packs, please click the link below.  You will notice that there are 2 lists for each grade.  You will only need to purchase   one .  If your child is enrolled in World Language, please use the list that is assigned to your child's grade and includes World Language.  If your child will not take World Language, use the list that simply lists the grade. Please note that purchasing these supplies will take approximately 15-20 minutes if you elect to order online.  The advantage to this is ordering from your home, getting all items on the list, and having the supplies delivered to your home.  For questions, please contact the Main Office. Click HERE to view the design for McKelvie's courtyard.  The design was created by landscape architect Lauren Chase-Rowell in conjunction with McKelvie faculty and staff.  This project is being funded through donations by the Bedford PTG and the McKelvie Move-A-Thon. We anticipate this project will take 3 years to complete.

McKelvie Intermediate School is preparing for the roof replacement project that will take place this summer. The first step in this process is to vacuum the roof, which can be a very loud process. We want to notify the community that this is currently scheduled for Tuesday 6/21 and Wednesday 6/22 . We appreciate your patience and apologize for any disruption that the noise may cause.

Starting  Monday ,  March 28th ,  through Friday,  April 8th , the Community Action Team (CAT) is collecting "coins" to benefit NH's Hospital for Children at Elliot.  Monies will be collected on the following schedule: Monday  - Pennies Tuesday  - Nickels Wednesday  - Dimes Thursday  - Quarters Friday  - Any monies The goals of CAT is to make a hospital stay a little more comfortable for children in NH.  Elliot Hospital has a wish list of items that would provide comfort and distraction to children who are facing surgery or hospitalization ( Wish List ).  Through the student's donations CAT will be purchasing items on the hospital's wish list.  If you have any questions about this drive, please contact CAT Advisors Michael Crowell or Jodi Parsons.

Mark your calendar for TECH. ED. open house! Date:  Wednesday, Feb 17 Time:  9 - 12 noon Location: McKelvie Intermediate School, Room 31 It's that  time of year again! National Engineering Week is the week of our school vacation, so McKelvie would like to once again i nvite the public in to visit the Tech. Ed. program. Come see what your son/daughter has been learning in TECH. ED class!  This pre-engineering class is a hands-on approach to learning about the  design process and students build prototypes to try out their ideas! Grade 6 features: The Tech.Ed. Olympics with the Wind Powered Car event and the Basketball Launcher event. Google Draw is used for CAD drawings and  the students love to draw on the computer! Grade 5 features: 3D drawings, roller coaster prototypes with twists, turns and upside down loops, Lego inventions, CODE on the computers, and spaghetti structures. Projects will be on display and students will be actively work

Ten students will be competing in McKelvie's school-wide Geography Bee on Tuesday, January 26th , at 9:30am in the cafeteria. Parents are welcome to attend!

The McKelvie Drama Club is pleased to announce that this year's musical will be You're a Good Man Charlie Brown under the direction of Nate Sawyer.
